Joined the ICLR 2025 Climate Change AI Workshop Panel in Singapore on 28 April 2025 to Discuss Machine Learning for Climate Action in Asia

The ICLR 2025 Workshop “Tackling Climate Change with Machine Learning: Data-Centric Approaches in ML for Climate Action” was held on 28 April 2025 at Singapore EXPO. The workshop formed part of the 13th International Conference on Learning Representations, held in Singapore from 24 to 28 April.

ICLR is an international research conference focused on representation learning and deep learning. Its participants include academic and industrial researchers, engineers, entrepreneurs and students working across artificial intelligence, statistics, data science and applied fields. Climate and sustainability were included among the conference’s areas of application.

The workshop focused on data-centric machine learning for climate action. Rather than concentrating only on model architecture, this approach examines how the collection, preparation, quality and representativeness of data affect the performance and practical value of machine-learning systems.

The programme brought together researchers and practitioners working on biodiversity conservation, renewable energy, power systems, weather forecasting, Earth observation and climate data. It included keynote presentations, research spotlight talks, poster sessions and two panel discussions.
